BERTIE & BRAMBLE ARE HOMED!

December 2018

It is wonderful that these two gorgeous youngsters have finally been homed!

They are great little lads who came to us as very young foals and have developed into super little guys that love attention and will make fantastic show and/or child's ponies.

This is a great end to the year for Bertie and Bramble and we couldn't be happier for them.

OUR GOLDEN OLDIE - JESTER

UPDATE: Summer 2019

We are so sad to inform you all that our dear old gentleman Jester has now passed away leaving an empty space in our hearts.

Our remembrance page is dedicated to his memory and is for anyone wishing their own much missed horse to have a place on our page.

Pleas just email us with your words and photo.

Hank Has Found His Feet

July 2018

We were so happy when Hank went to his new home around three months ago and we are thrilled that he has made a new best friend and is doing very well.

He is really coming out of himself which is wonderful as he was quite a nervous animal when he came to us, but it is so lovely to see him flourishing in his home.

 Claire's Professional Development:

July 2018

As part of her continual professional development, Claire has successfully completed two Monty Roberts courses.

Feeding and Nutrition and Horse as an Athlete.

We are all very proud of her!

Spring Has Finally Arrived!

April 2018

As you can see the horses are loving the finer Spring weather and have been enjoying the feel of the sun on their backs.

Little Daisy has been joining in with the joy of Spring too :)

We are looking forward to an enjoyable and successful year ahead.

Bramble & Bertie - Update

March 2018

Bramble and Bertie have really been enjoying life at their foster home and have come on in leaps and bounds!

They will soon be available for adoption when they come back in the Summer, so keep an eye on our adoption and Facebook pages for their arrival.

They certainly are stunning boys!

Daisy The Foal - Updates

March 2018

We are so happy that little Daisy is going from strength to strength!

She has put on more weight and her condition is so much better. She is loving it here with us and has made lots of friends of the two legged and four legged variety.

Like all the horses here, we spoil her and we are sure you will agree that she is gorgeous!

February 2018

We are pleased to say that Daisy is improving week on week and is a happy little girl.

She is eating well, putting on weight and thriving!

We all love her here and we know she will be adored when she is ready to move on to a loving new home.

We will keep you updated with her progress as she improves and develops.

Daisy The Foal - Our New Year Addition

January 2018

Daisy has come into our care as an unwanted foal. She has experienced a lot of upheaval leaving her home and then coming to us, but she is such an adorable little girl and has coped with it incredibly well.

She is not in the best condition and is still very weak – at six months old with a body score of one she is on three feeds a day. She had a serious issue with worms but thankfully we have managed to get that under control and she is responding well.

Above all, she has the sweetest nature and she loves everyone. Our other horses get on so well with her and when she has fully recovered we will be looking for a caring forever home for her where going forward, she will make a perfect child's pony.

Daisy’s care is costing £25 per week so if you would like to contribute to this, please click here to donate. Any amount is gratefully received.

We will keep you updated on her progress so please keep an eye on our website and Facebook page.

Post-Christmas at Free Rein

So now that the festivities are almost over, what are the volunteers and horses getting up to?

Well let us tell you that we are in the midst of planning some exciting new events that we are hosting throughout 2018. This will include ‘Meet the Horse’ Days, public events such as jumble sales and seasonal dances – giving you plenty of chances to put your best hoof forward!

We are also hoping to raise enough funds to repair some of our fencing in the fields and put in place some new fencing to better organise our grazing throughout the four seasons.

We are also desperately trying to raise the money for the large feed and hay bills we get each month; and with a lot of our residents getting progressively older, the food we need to keep their condition and good health is more expensive than the average bag of mix, working out at almost double. Below are the two we are currently using and seeing the most progress with – please click on the images for full details.

Coolstance Copra.Keyflow Pink Mash.

One of our lovely volunteers has kindly donated enough feed to last us into the New Year, spending almost £200 on mix, sugar beet, chaff and special beetroot and coconut mashes for our golden oldies.

As a charity, we rely heavily on donations from the public to keep us active and doing the work we do.

So if you can spare a few moments to make a donation – big or small, we and our equines will be eternally grateful.

October 2017

Our First Calendar!

We launched our first calendar this October and by mid December we had sold all of them! They were available from our brand new online shop at only £8.99 each and after such a success, we will definitely produce one for 2019! They were been professionally printed for a high quality finish and certainly made the perfect Christmas stocking filler for anyone who loves horses.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who bought one and who helped to sell them.

All proceeds will be spent on the horses in our care.
